Worked great

Good saw

This saw is impressively smooth, relatively quiet (for a worm drive saw), well-balanced, and surprisingly not heavy for its category. Having worked with worm drives as a young man, the quiet operation was a pleasant surprise, as construction duty saws are typically deafening. I appreciated the thoughtful design of using the same wrench for both the blade retention screw and the oil well cover screw.

However, the product isn't without its imperfections. The instructions provided offer no guidance on setting up or maintaining the saw. While it arrived with the oil well full of grease, there was no information on whether that state is good, bad, or indifferent, and no details about the type or quantity of oil to use. I opted for Skil worm drive oil to fill it.

Additionally, spare motor brushes were included, but there were no instructions on when or how to replace them, nor any guidance on acquiring spares. A crucial detail left unmentioned in the instructions is that the blade retention screw is a left-hand thread. This can be a source of confusion for those accustomed to the standard "Righty-Tighty / Left-Loosie" rule.

Despite these drawbacks, I was prepared for the left-hand thread on the blade retention screw, and I encountered no issues in that regard. Some users may have experienced difficulty if they were following the conventional rule. There were also previous complaints about the absence of a blade, but since there isn't a specific "right" blade, I purchased three carbide blades at Lowes: a 24-tooth framing/nail cutter, a 40-tooth fine cut, and a 60-tooth extra fine cut.

Powerful small saw

I bought this along with the recommended stone cutting blade, and it performed exceptionally well for making cuts in concrete pavers for my new walkway. Highly recommend it.

Value version of the Dewalt DWS535B

I was completely surprised to discover that this is essentially a $220 Dewalt in red, with some minor finishing and material changes. After my experience with their 14-inch concrete saw on sale, this revelation is quite unexpected.
