It has performed admirably. My only desire is for it to accommodate a broader range of acceptable log sizes; it's quite easy to cut logs that are either too long or too short for effective splitting with this tool.

Splits big hard oak

After experiencing strain in my wrists from manually splitting large oak rounds, I decided to give this tool a try. Once I developed a method, it proved to be faster than using a wedge and maul, and my wrists no longer experienced discomfort. It handled even knotted rounds quite easily. I've split about a cord so far, and it's holding up well. The real test will be if the hydraulics stay sealed after processing five or six cords. Given its affordable price, I consider it a great deal and hope it continues to last.

Despite encountering negative reviews, we are pleased with our log splitter. My husband chose not to heed the reviews, and fortunately, it arrived just in time for the snow flurries in California. Previously, building fires was challenging, but now we have ample kindling, making it easy to start fires on cold mornings.
