Decent for the price. These older vacuums haven't seen much change in the past 30+ years but continue to work well for most users. This model is priced at only a third of similar versions from different brands and a fraction of the cost of newer, smarter gear-driven vacuums. Additionally, it utilizes the same diaphragm and skirt as the Zodiac G4 at a significantly lower cost. You could purchase four of these compared to one Zodiac, and if each one lasts a couple of years, it's a win-win. Keep in mind that you'll need to "roomba-proof" your pool. The fewer built-in underwater features, the better, as these vacuums move backward along the connected hose and need room to turn. This can be achieved by adjusting the hose length or blocking obstacles like steps with a toy. To address the issue of getting stuck in one corner or step, I tied a long string on the opposite end of the pool to pull the hose when the vacuum gets too close. Overall, it's a reasonable replacement for my worn-out gear-driven vacuum.
