Schedule 80

Unions appear to be quality. But I couldn't use them because I need schedule 40 and I stupidly ordered these, which are schedule 80.

Weird fitting solved

Not a standard PVC 1 1/2 fitting. Had to glue a 1 1/4 connector and adapt from there back to 1 1/2. Other than the connection size being weird (4 stars rather than 5) it works great. Like to O ring seal against the pump as it ensures a leakproof seal without the use of pipe tape.
