Impressive device. I've personally customized the 8" auger bit with tungsten carbide bits/teeth to expedite the breakdown of rocks and soil, reducing the risk of damage to the bit edge. Excavates impressively until encountering a sizable rock! Robust enough to topple a 240lbs individual. Absolutely adore this equipment.

This auger head is excellent. I used it to dig 12-inch holes in clay, and it worked wonderfully. It has plenty of power, making it a true workhorse. After mixing the gas, priming it, and giving it three pulls, it started right up!

This unit came at a reasonable price. However, users need to exercise caution regarding a couple of aspects. In my first four holes, I encountered some challenges that taught me valuable lessons. The auger/bit struggled with clay, especially with the 6" size, and I suspect larger bits might face even more difficulty. In the initial hole, hitting clay around 18 inches down caused the bit to get stuck, requiring a manual excavation to free it. For the subsequent holes, I adopted a technique of using the auger like a bore, oscillating it while moving in and out of the hole and periodically removing the soil. When encountering clay, I increased the speed of pulling the auger bit out, progressing only a few inches at a time. It's a skill that requires practice; in the second hole, it corkscrewed into the clay, but being under power, I managed to extract it with clay adhering to every tooth. The following two holes were smoother. Having a reverse gear to unscrew from such situations would be fantastic. I also have some concerns about the attachment of the bit to the motor, although no issues have arisen thus far. With more holes to dig, I'll update this review accordingly. As I've continued digging, it has become more manageable. The last three holes were trouble-free, but it's worth noting that if it gets stuck, even momentarily, it can strain your wrist. It provides a decent workout.
