I've been eagerly anticipating acquiring or creating one of these, but the cost was prohibitive. Living in central Florida, our kids wished to extend their pool enjoyment beyond just the summer. With winter temperatures dropping to a chilly 61 degrees, the idea of warming it up by at least 10 degrees seemed perfect. Although initially hesitant due to the common association of low price with low quality, this option seemed promising.

To my surprise, it arrived much earlier than anticipated. Upon reviewing the package, I plan to install it in two weeks. It's larger than expected, and the quality appears to be quite impressive. The package includes a comprehensive booklet of instructions in clear and understandable English. I intend to install it over the grass to avoid putting additional strain on the small Intex pump tasked with pumping water to the roof. I'll provide updates post-installation, but I'm already considering getting a second one.

Works great but need to improvise to connect

This product has proven effective in keeping our pool warm. However, you'll have to find tubing to connect it yourself, and the sizes may differ from those that attach to the pump. Yet, it does function once you can improvise and set up the system!

It worked effectively; the pool temperature increased from 72 degrees to 92 degrees in three days. I even disconnected it, and with the solar cover, the temperature remained at 85 degrees. It's a great product and easy to use.

I had an extra Intex pump on hand, so I only needed to buy hoses and PVC components. I acquired two ball valves and the required connectors to establish a bypass. However, since the pumps come with built-in timers, I didn't necessarily need the extra valves. Nonetheless, it's convenient to have the option to bypass the heater while my saltwater chlorine generator operates overnight. I wouldn't want the pool to cool down due to the cold night air.

I've had this for 2 weeks now, and I can confirm that it does help in warming up my above-ground pool of 2,000 gallons. Before installing the product, I monitored my water temperature during the daytime and afternoon for 2 weeks to establish a baseline. I can honestly say that it works. Prior to installation, the highest temperature I achieved in my pool was 81°F when the air temperature was 94°F, and that only happened once in 2 weeks. The rest of the time, the temperature ranged between 74-78 degrees.

After installing this solar heater, we experienced a week of cloudy weather, and I could still reach temperatures in the 80s every afternoon. The highest temperature I recorded was 83.4 degrees. The installation is easy, and there were no issues with leaks. The only problem I noticed is that it reduces the water output, so I have to keep the pump running even at night to ensure sufficient water turnover for cleanliness. As a result, the water temperature is consistently in the mid-70s in the morning, but it does heat up during the day, making it comfortable for nighttime swimming, which is our preferred time. I'm fine with this setup. If you have a larger pool and a stronger pump, I would recommend getting a pair of these and running them in parallel to double your water output while still getting the desired heat.
